Bethlehem, PA - Congressman Ryan Mackenzie, representing the Greater Lehigh Valley in Pennsylvania’s 7th Congressional District, visited two local businesses yesterday to highlight benefits from the One Big Beautiful Bill for small businesses, service employees, and working families.
The visits, part of a districtwide effort to highlight key provisions of the One Big Beautiful Bill, included stops at Gentlemen’s Barbershop in Bethlehem and The Boatyard Restaurant in Lehighton. Congressman Mackenzie met with employees and customers to discuss how the new budget helps workers keep more of what they earn while empowering small businesses.
“The One Big Beautiful Bill is an unprecedented win for workers and small businesses in the Greater Lehigh Valley,” said Congressman Mackenzie. “By delivering tax relief on tips and overtime, supporting working families with an expanded Child Tax Credit, and making permanent the small business tax deduction, we're delivering real results for our region.”
During his visit to Gentleman’s Barbershop, Congressman Mackenzie received a haircut while speaking with barbers and customers about how service industry workers will benefit from the new budget’s tax reforms. At The Boatyard Restaurant, he heard directly from workers about the impact of rising prices over the last four years and how the new tax relief provisions are helping put more money back in their pockets.
The One Big Beautiful Bill includes several key provisions that will benefit local workers and small businesses, including:
- Tax Relief on Tips and Overtime, resulting in an average tax savings of $1,675 for tipped workers and as much as $1,750 for overtime workers.
- Permanently extends critical provisions of the TCJA that support small businesses, including the 20% small business tax deduction.
- Full expensing for capital and equipment investments.
- Makes the small business tax deduction permanent, which is projected to create 1.2 million jobs.
- Doubles the employer-provided childcare credit from 25% to 50%.
- Permanently increases the Child Tax Credit to $2,200. It had been set to return to $1,000 following the expiration of the TCJA.
The visits follow the passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill earlier this month.
