Congressman Mackenzie Applauds Passage of Budget Reconciliation Bill

Budget Delivers on Tax Relief, Border Security, and Support for Working Families
Washington, D.C. — Today, Congressman Ryan Mackenzie, representing the Greater Lehigh Valley in Pennsylvania’s 7th Congressional District, voted to pass a comprehensive budget reconciliation bill that follows through on his promises to our communities and delivers major wins for working families, border security, and America’s fiscal future.
“This budget delivers real relief for seniors and working families, secures our border, and reins in reckless spending,” said Congressman Mackenzie. “After years of wide-open borders, uncontrolled inflation, and government spending run amok, this budget finally addresses the needs of our community and our country. We’re delivering tax relief, boosting take-home pay, and improving the vitality and efficiency of critical programs. These are the commonsense solutions that people across the Greater Lehigh Valley are counting on.”
The bill, passed by the U.S. House, includes major reforms and new investments that reflect the priorities of the American people.
Key Provisions:
- Tax Relief for Families and Seniors: The budget keeps rates unchanged for high-income earners while delivering new tax relief to the people who need it most — increasing the Child Tax Credit to $2,500 per child from 2025–2028 and adding a $4,000 deduction for seniors earning under $75,000. This budget also prevents the largest tax increase in American history — avoiding a 22% tax hike on the average taxpayer, protecting 6 million jobs, and delivering bigger paychecks for working families.
- Support for Workers: It eliminates federal taxes on tips and overtime pay through 2028 and creates a new deduction for interest on auto loans for American-made vehicles.
- Help for Small Businesses: Small business owners can now permanently deduct 20% of their qualified business income—with that rate increasing to 23% in 2026—and immediately expense investments in new equipment or factories.
- Border Security Funding: The budget invests $69 billion to complete border barriers, hire more Border Patrol and ICE agents, expand deportation capacity, and stop deadly fentanyl and human trafficking at the southern border.
- Defense Investments: Provides hundreds of billions to strengthen U.S. military readiness, modernize shipbuilding and missile defense, improve conditions for servicemembers, and counter growing threats from China while also investing in rural infrastructure and economic development.
- Protecting Medicaid Integrity: The budget protects and strengthens Medicaid with common sense reforms — ending benefits for illegal immigrants, adding work requirements for able-bodied adults, and tightening eligibility rules. Medicaid spending will increase every year under this budget.
“This is about putting working families first—making life more affordable, our country more secure, and our government more responsible,” said Congressman Mackenzie. “I’ll keep fighting to deliver the change that the people of the Greater Lehigh Valley are counting on.”
