Lehigh Valley gig workers share experiences at roundtable with Ryan Mackenzie
June 20, 2025

Hector Soto first went to work for delivery company DoorDash out of necessity during the COVID pandemic when hours at his full-time job at a call center dried up.

Even though his primary employer brought him back as the pandemic became less severe, Soto discovered that he liked the way working as an independent contractor allowed him to provide extra income for his family. He also is a fan of the flexibility that allows him to schedule his own hours.

In the News: Medal Presented to Vet's Family
May 19, 2025

A World War II Army veteran who served at Normandy and in the European theater was honored posthumously on Saturday with the presentation of a second Bronze Star Medal. Staff Sergeant William "Wash" Bybel of Coaldale, who died July 23, 2013, at the age of 94, was awarded the medal "for heroic achievement" during his actions on August 4, 1944. He served with the U.S. Army's 22nd Infantry.

JIM THORPE, Pa. - A congressman representing the Lehigh Valley and Carbon County visited firefighters and local emergency officials near the site of the Bear Mountain fire that has burned more than 500 acres.

Congressman Ryan Mackenzie, who represents the 7th Congressional District, met with representatives from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources at the Carbon County Emergency Management Agency field site for an update on efforts to contain the fire.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Ryan Mackenzie was among a group of federal lawmakers who sat for a live town hall on CNN Thursday night.

The Republican from the Lehigh Valley took the stage in Washington, D.C., to answer questions from a studio audience. And members didn't hold back on hot-button topics in the national spotlight.

Rep. Mike Lawler (R-NY), Rep. Jahana Hayes (D-CT) and Rep. Derek Tran (D-CA) joined Mackenzie in taking questions.

In the News: Ryan Mackenzie meets with Lehigh Valley trucking leaders
March 21, 2025

U.S. Rep. Ryan Mackenzie received a truck-driving lesson Friday afternoon when he visited the Ward Transport & Logistics terminal in Glendon. The first-term congressman drove an 18-wheeler around the building, coming to a smooth stop in front of the main entrance.

Afterwards, Mackenzie, R-7th District, was given a tour of the loading and unloading area before getting behind the wheel of the 2025 International LT tractor.

WASHINGTON — A Gold Star father will join U.S. Rep. Ryan Mackenzie in the U.S. House chamber tonight for President Donald Trump's joint address to Congress.

Michael Wargo, of Mahoning Township, will join the first-term Republican lawmaker for Trump's 9 p.m. speech. His son Michael died by suicide in 2013, leading the elder Wargo and his wife Sarah to become mental health advocates.

Rep. Ryan Mackenzie announces new office openings, bilingual services
February 20, 2025

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – U.S. Rep. Ryan Mackenzie has announced the opening of three additional district offices that began serving constituents this week.

The offices are located in Carbon, Northampton and Lehigh counties. The Lehigh County location is a second location there.

“These locations will offer convenient access to in-person services, ensuring that our constituents get the help that they need, when they need it,” Mackenzie, R-Lehigh Valley, said in a news release.
