America 250 Events in Washington, D.C.

As the United States celebrates the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, several major events are planned in Washington, D.C. throughout the summer of 2026. Below is information on some of the largest events currently scheduled, along with links for additional details and registration opportunities.

The Great American State Fair

June 25 – July 10, 2026
 National Mall (Between 14th Street and 4th Street NW)

The Great American State Fair is a large-scale exposition celebrating the people, traditions, innovations, and spirit of the United States. The event will feature exhibits representing all 56 states and territories, along with displays from businesses, civic organizations, educational institutions, and innovators from across the country.

Visitors can enjoy:

  • State and territorial pavilions
  • Educational exhibits and immersive experiences
  • Family-friendly activities
  • Live music and cultural performances
  • Military ensembles and flyovers
  • Movie screenings
  • Industry showcases and demonstrations
  • A Ferris wheel and other fair attractions

The fair is scheduled to operate daily from June 25 through July 10 on the National Mall. Admission is free and open to the public. Advance registration is encouraged.

  • Sunday–Wednesday: 10:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.
  • Thursday–Saturday: 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m.
  • July 4: 10:00 a.m. – Midnight

Salute to America

July 4, 2026
 National Mall (Between 14th Street and 17th Street NW)

Salute to America is expected to serve as one of the largest Independence Day celebrations in the nation, commemorating the 250th anniversary of American independence.

Programming is expected to include:

  • Patriotic performances and live entertainment
  • Military demonstrations and flyovers
  • Tributes to servicemembers and American heroes
  • Family-friendly activities
  • Special guest remarks
  • A large-scale fireworks display over the National Mall

Admission will be free and open to the public. Advance registration is encouraged, though walk-up attendance is expected to be available. Event schedules and operating hours will be announced closer to July 4.

Patriot Games

August 9–11, 2026
Washington, D.C.

The 2026 Patriot Games will bring together exceptional student-athletes ages 14–17 from across the country to compete in a national competition celebrating excellence, teamwork, and the American spirit. One male and one female champion will each receive a scholarship, and the competition will culminate in a nationally televised finale on August 13. Applications are now open.

Nationwide Tour – 2026

As part of the America250 celebration, Freedom Trucks Mobile Museums will travel across the country bringing educational exhibits, historical artifacts, interactive displays, and programming directly to communities.

The initiative is designed to help Americans engage with the nation's history and commemorate the 250th anniversary regardless of where they live.
