Alburtis, PA — Today, Congressman Ryan Mackenzie (PA-7), representing the Lehigh Valley and the Poconos, highlighted $1,650,000 in new, federal funding for the construction of a new, modern firehouse in Alburtis. This funding was secured by Congressman Mackenzie through the Community Project Funding (CPF) process. The new firehouse will replace an aging building, expand emergency response capacity, and provide firefighters with a modern and reliable operational base.

Washington, D.C. — Congressman Ryan Mackenzie (PA-07), representing the Lehigh Valley and the Poconos, introduced the Improving Veteran Access to Care Act today alongside Congressman Chris Pappas (NH-1). This bipartisan legislation will improve the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) appointment scheduling process to ensure veterans can more easily schedule and manage their medical care, including primary care, mental health services, and specialty appointments.

Washington, D.C. - Congressman Ryan Mackenzie (PA-07), representing the Lehigh Valley and the Poconos, voted with the bipartisan majority in the House to reopen the federal government. The Congressman first voted to fund the government in September — helping to pass a clean, bipartisan continuing resolution. Despite a long history of bipartisan support for continuing resolutions, this most recent bill was blocked in the Senate by a Democratic minority who refused to help meet the 60 vote threshold, resulting in the longest shutdown in American history.

Congressman Mackenzie joined a bipartisan majority in the US House in September in passing a clean, bipartisan continuing resolution. That resolution was blocked 14 times by a Democratic minority in the Senate.

LWCF is the nation’s most effective conservation program for protecting parks, trails, forests, and outdoor recreation spaces at the federal, state, and local levels.

Allentown, PA — Congressman Ryan Mackenzie, representing the Lehigh Valley and the Poconos in Pennsylvania’s 7th Congressional District, visited Second Harvest Food Bank and Maternal Family Health Services in recent days to highlight the growing strain on local food assistance programs as the government shutdown continues. The Congressman met with staff at both organizations to discuss the risks of food insecurity posed by lapses in SNAP and WIC benefits. Second Harvest is the region’s largest network of food banks.

Funding for the WIC program was poised to run out in many states as a result of Senate Democrats’ decision to shut down the government.
